More about Me

I am a chef, cooking teacher, food writer and caterer most often found chopping and creating new dishes in my kitchen in North London.

Born and educated in Paris, I’ve been cooking for as long as I can remember. I learned to cook from my Tunisian-born mother and Italian father. The youngest of seven children, our house was always full of delicious smells, and the happy sounds of people chatting, cooking and eating. I have now replicated this childhood experience in my home; though have stuck on three children!

After my degree and working in HR for some years, I moved to London. One fateful day in 2006 I helped a friend prepare a three course meal for her family. The food bug bit me once more, and Home Cooking by Fabienne was born.

My style of cooking is Mediterranean: a blend of the best of French, Tunisian, Moroccan and Italian foods. Enthusiastic about interesting ingredients, discovering different cuisines and creating original recipes, I have also been trained to cook Chinese and Japanese and have completed the prestigious bread making, patisserie, and one chocolate course at Le Cordon Bleu.

I’ve organised cookery workshops for adults and children for JCC London, Limmud, Gefiltefest, the Jewish community in Oxford, Wizo women, and University student organisations. I’ve also run corporate and private cooking demos around London. I am proud to have cooked for Times food critic Giles Coren and Claudia Roden in my house for the Guardian Jewish Podcast in 2011. My harshest critics remain – of course – my family!
